About Me

Hi, I'm Alice

I am currently in Southern California. I've built an artistic practice around painting portraits of animals. I recently add commissions to my services if interested please Contact me and let's talk :). Below is a short introduction about me; and as always thank you for your support.

Allow me to introduce you to an inspiring artist named Alice Malloy-Chang. Alice is a remarkable woman who, at the age of 50, has been passionately pursuing her artistic journey for the past decade. With a deep love for painting, she has found a special affinity for capturing the essence and beauty of dogs, particularly sighthounds. Her paintings beautifully showcase their grace, elegance, and unique personalities.

Alice's creativity extends beyond the canvas. She also enjoys engaging in hands-on projects, such as building decks and creating beautiful gardens. This tactile aspect of her artistic expression allows her to connect with nature and bring her visions to life in various forms.

Being a proud owner of a beloved greyhound, Alice finds great joy in the companionship and bond she shares with her four-legged friend. The presence of her greyhound often serves as inspiration for her artwork, infusing it with a deep sense of personal connection and understanding.

Influenced by her early years spent living in Japan, Alice incorporates elements of Japanese aesthetics into her artwork. She finds inspiration in the simplicity, tranquility, and attention to detail found in traditional Japanese art forms.

Alice's artistic interests extend beyond dogs, as she finds sea creatures particularly intriguing. The fascinating and diverse life that exists beneath the waves captivates her imagination and occasionally finds its way into her artwork, adding a touch of marine wonder to her portfolio.

Despite facing a challenging time in her life, particularly in the tumultuous year of 2020, Alice exhibited incredible resilience and strength. She encountered multiple difficulties, including the loss of her job, the sudden passing of her mother, and the revelation that her spouse no longer wanted to share the same journey and both went separate ways. Despite these hardships, Alice stood strong and embarked on a new chapter of her life alongside her daughter.

Taking solace in her passion for art, Alice made the courageous decision to pursue it full-time. She poured her energy and emotions into her creative endeavors, finding solace, healing, and empowerment through her artistic expression. Alice's dedication, combined with her undeniable talent, resulted in her becoming a successful artist, gaining recognition for her evocative and captivating artwork.

Alice's story is an inspiration to many, a testament to the power of art as a means of personal growth, resilience, and finding one's true calling. Through her art, she not only shares her unique perspective but also offers a glimpse into the strength and beauty that can emerge from life's most challenging moments.

My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Painting has become a meditative act for me. With each brushstroke, I find a sense of calm and clarity. In this state, I can express the vibrance of life in every movement of my brush. Not only do I enjoy painting, but I also like creating - especially props/decor, and succulent gardening. My inspiration comes from all sorts of things: my dogs, nature/outdoors, dreams, etc.

I have experimented with mixed media and various methods of painting, my prefer medium is acrylic. The soft realistic method is balanced with splatters and streaks of paint exposing the artist’s hand to add texture and dimension to each piece.
